NBA Rumor Central: Hawks make strong impression on Dwight Howard

Even after a disappointing year with the Houston Rockets, center Dwight Howard is still commanding a lot of money on the free-agent market.

Rumor CentralESPN's Calvin Watkins reported early Friday that Howard would be seeking a deal starting at $24 million per season, and just maybe, the Atlanta Hawks could be the team willing to match Howard's demands.

According to The Vertical, the Hawks made a strong impression on Howard during their meeting Friday.

Howard, a 12-year veteran who is originally from Atlanta, is also expected to conduct a meeting with the Boston Celtics. According to Watkins, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Charlotte Hornets have also expressed interest in signing Howard.

In 71 games last season, Howard averaged 13.7 points and 11.8 rebounds.
