Floyd Mayweather took to ESPN on Thursday night to talk up his upcoming fight with Andre Berto, a fight exactly zero people are excited about. He had this to say about Ronda Rousey, who is attracting far more attention these days.
"I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes," Mayweather said. "When she can do that, then call me."
[Unfortunately, it's official: Mayweather to fight Berto]
Ehhh, whatever.
This all goes back to 2014, when Mayweather claimed he didn't know who Rousey was. Then, after Rousey beat out Mayweather for Best Fighter at last month's ESPY's, she landed with this uppercut: while referencing Mayweather's past issues with domestic violence:
Mayweather told ESPN that he sure knows who Rousey is now (transcription via MMAFighting.com).
"A while back I didn't know who Ronda Rousey was, so I'm pretty sure she got upset. I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC," he said. "You guys have done a tremendous job and I've won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey."
