Details Created on Friday, 22 July 2016 09:00

Are you interested in cars? (I'm assuming you are, seeing as you're on this blog.) Are you interested in making money?

(I'm assuming you are, because who isn't?) Check out this guide to making some extra cash with your skills and wisdom.

Freelance repairs

This, to many, seems to be the obvious way to make extra cash with your car skills. Of course, not many want to switch careers and start working as a mechanic at a garage. But what you could start doing, as a part-time hustle, is do some freelance mechanic work. You may want to help out friends. Or you might want to go the distance and become a self-employed mechanic. Combining a love of fixing cars with a flexible time schedule? Sounds like a dream to many.

Investing

You may have heard that you should never invest in cars if you want to make a big profit. But this isn't always true. In fact, classic cars often make their owners a mint once they've aged appropriately. Of course, you'll need to keep them maintained. You may even need to renovate them. You could also try your hand at getting a new car which could be a classic one day. This is, of course, a tricky one. But a new Mercedes could quite easily become a cult classic in the future!

Working in delivery

If you love pure driving, then you may want to look into working in delivery. Of course, this isn't everyone's idea of fun. Not all car enthusiasts like driving just any old vehicle. Delivery vehicles may not sound very sexy to you, for example. But the people in this line of work often joined simply because they enjoy driving, and the job has made them happy. You could even consider starting your own courier company.

Rent your car

Perhaps you're not using your car all that much these days. It could be because you're working from home. Maybe you only ever need to use public transport. Perhaps you even have more than one car. (Lucky you!) Whatever the reason, you may want to consider renting your car out to others. Of course, there are many risks with this option. But plenty of people are doing it and are making a nice passive income doing so! Hey, and if you did get your hands on that new Mercedes, you'd probably see very high demand for it here!

Become an Uber driver

You may have heard the name 'Uber' without really understanding what it is the service does. Simple: it allows freelancers to use their own vehicles to operate a pseudo-cab service. It's not without its controversy - many don't like its effect on the taxi industry. But there's no denying that it's providing car lovers with a new way to make money while driving. Look into applying to be an Uber driver if you're interested.

Write about it

Of course, there's always the option of writing about cars and getting paid to do so. In fact, that's what I'm doing right this minute. You could start your own blog and start making money if enough people read it. Which means that you've got to drive lots of traffic to your website. Haha! (I'll see myself out.)
